Obedience Brings Opposition

For I know the plans i have for you.jpg

A few weeks ago I shared with Charles that I felt that God was nudging me to start writing again on our blog and sharing more of my faith on our website and social media.  I have let fear of failure keep me from moving forward for a very long time and I questioned what my purpose in God truly is.

Last year God revealed himself to me during those hard and difficult days. It was during that time that I realized what my passion truly is.  I was distracted for sometime thinking it was home decor and design.  Although I love that, I found that my true passion really is reading and sharing God’s word.

HIS word is life changing and life giving.  It was through God’s word that my life, my relationship and my faith in God was and is transformed. As I began praying for direction, I felt God was impressing upon me to share more of my heart, more of HIS word, and more of HIM with others.

I started sharing more of our faith and encouragement on our Instagram account.  However, I felt like I needed to start sharing more on our blog. I stepped out in faith and published the first post in over a year just a few weeks ago.  I felt like I was being obedient to what God is calling me and prompting my heart to do.

Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him.
And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.
— John 3:24

You know what happened next...the enemy showed up at the Bullock household and the attacks started.  These attacks came in various forms such as a cracked windshield and hurtful words that pierced my heart. Fortunately, I have grown in my relationship with God to know and be able to identify that these attacks are from Satan.  Whenever we are obedient to God there will always be opposition from the enemy.

Why??? Because that is his purpose and mission...to kill, steal and destroy.  The enemy, our adversary, is seeking to prevent us from moving forward in our relationship with God.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy;
I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
— John 10:10

Satan will do whatever he can to discourage us from doing what God has called us to do.  It is important to know our enemy and how he works.  We must be able to identify when these attacks come and understand their sole purpose...to prevent us from be obedient.

These attacks are meant to hinder us, to interrupt God’s plan and cause us delay.  Although they may delay us, they will not deter God’s plan and purpose from being fulfilled.

I realize that whenever I am obedient to God’s call that I will face opposition. I am given the choice to allow these attacks to prevent me from doing what God has called me to do or to dig deep in my faith and keep moving forward knowing that God will always deliver on HIS promises.

It is inevitable that obedience brings opposition but with opposition comes opportunity.  Opportunity to grow our faith and to watch God fulfill HIS promise through HIS word. Friends, I encourage you to face opposition from the enemy with steadfast faith knowing that God is completing the plans HE has for you, to prosper you, to give you hope and a future.

The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly,
for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.
— Jeremiah 1:12

God has declared that HE will see his word fulfilled...every word, every promise, every plan that God has set in motion. HE will see to completion and all that HE requires from us is to be obedient.
